earthworms really?

I was looking up new things to feed my babies and I saw that they can have earthworms. So can I really go to wal-mart and get some night crawlers and feed it to them?

I've read some love earthworms. However, most advice cautions against wild or bait worms because of parasite loads. I'm not sure if it's true or not. I've been interested in trying them too but am unsure about a "safe" supplier and would rather not have to deal with a parasite problem.
