Dusti's Official Blog & Photo Thread

Hey all...My lil Dusti is doin great, he is 7 1/8" the last time he was measured on the 23rd of Dec. 2010...I got him from Pet Smart and when I did he was only about 4 3/4" long and WOW is he growing...I'm still not entirely sure though if Dusti is either female or male yet but I'm strongly thinking female...the pores are rather small...yet for some strange reason i can't help but call him a boy...lol...Dusti is one of my two herps...My other baby is my Chinese Water Dragon...Nieryn! After comparing a male of the same size to her I have fully come to the conclusion that she IS in FACT a FEMALE!!! WOW was there a HUGE diff between the two...Nieryn is waaay smaller and looked just like the female they had!

Dusti's coloring kinda makes me think that he isn't the "normal" tan & brown's that we normally have in the store...Dusti is way more lighter, almost like a pale peach color!!! Anyone have any ideas as to is he might be a mix of some kind? I mean either way if he is the "normal" or not, he is still priceless in my book...one of my babies. Well I have added some pics for everyone to see, some may even have my cwd in with him too...

Hey again all...I have been thinking about my lil Dusti recently....I'm thinking that maybe he isn't the "normal" pet store typical...he isn't gray like all the others...he is a pale blonde and has orange markings down his spinal area...Anyone know what he could possibly be mixed with in order to get the coloring/markings that he has? I mean I know that they are are able to change and darken or lighten as they get older but he is getting more and more pale orange/yellow by the day...I mean he's not like this way overwhelming color but you can tell that he is something else...something special...hmmmmm well I dunno but either way he or she is and always will be my lil bug...

...Well about my lil one: today he had som raspberries, kiwi, and apples...mmm mmm mmm did my lil bug chow down on those...and now he is completely content on chillin out in Mumma's shirt...he loves to sleep right under my shirt and sleep right on my heart...his way of being the closest to it i guess...not like that would ever NOT be the truth...Dusti n Nieryn are my babies and I don't know what I would do with out my scaly lil mongrels...but there is one more lil angel in my house that can melt my heart with just a look from him and that's, Baby Boy...he is my 23lb Maine coon cat...

...Right now our state (Maine) is getting pounded with snow and its accumulating anywhere from 1/2" - 3" an hr...and I'm rather concerned about what might happen if I lose power...my house is heated to around 65*f and outside is roughly 25*f...I have Dusti in his usual spot when he is with me (tucked in my tank top) but I can't stay with him all night nor with Nieryn...Nieryn sleeps with no lights or heater but manly due to my room being around 75*f - 80*f all day n night...

...Ok all Dusti n I will be heading to sleep now...ok well I will be, he is already passed out on me...and has been for the last 3 hrs now...lmao...such a Mumma's baby...well good night all and stay warm n safe tonight!...xoxo

Glad to hear he is passed out and doing good ;-)
I think he is fine the way he is - even if his coloring isn't the norm that you see everywhere else. He definitely is speshal (maybe I should say she? haha)

Anyways, thanks for updating, stay safe and warm. Im keeping my heater on all night just in case there is a power outage, at least my Phenyx will be okay that way, and then in the AM i can take over and keep him near me.

Well today was a day to definitely stay indoors...we had 20*f weather with blizzard conditions, white out spots, and power outages starting last night into this evening...but due to that it gave me time to spend time at home with my sis, boys and my 4 legged babies...

...Due to the snow storm we were unable to get out to get crix for my lil Dusti so I put a delicious buffet of raspberries, apple, mango, pear, and banana...OMG he went right to town on it...esp the bananas and raspberries...I went and bought Dusti the Beardie Bites from Pet Smart (my work) but he won't seem to eat them...does anyone else have any issues with their little ones not liking them at all...

...Dusti is getting so big and growing so fast too...OMG and his appetite...lmao wow...he is one lil piglet...oh I almost forgot, Idk what was with him today but man he was a tad snippy, he even hissed at me like 3 times when I went to pick him up to feed him...I'm not sure if it had anything to do with what had happened earlier but I have a feeling it did...My youngest son, Logan, busted the entertainment stand that Dusti's viv was resting on and the viv crashed down...luckily nothing broke and Dusti wasn't hurt but I do think he was scared for the rest of the day from it...but Idk...he is doig fine now and I will be adding more pics of my lil prince/princess later...lol still not sure whether male or female...lol...hopefully I will be able to find out next month at his vet visit...I'm hoping to get some tests done on him as well as with Nieryn to determine their sexes...wish me luck...I'm hopin Dusti will be a girl...and I even have a mate for her (if Dusti is a female that is) my friend and I want to try and mate them...well its bed time for me so ttyl...and look back tomorrow for some new pics of my lil Dusti

Dusti's adorable. His colors will definitely change... Ryuu went from being brown to a very citrus yellow color. One thing that may come in handy if the power goes out are those "hot hands" things they sell at the store. Dunno if you'd be able to get to the store with all that snow, but it would be a good thing to have on hand

I know its been a bit since the last time I have updated the Dusti viewers...lol...but I have not so friendly news...Dusti has gone from a cute and cuddly snuggle bug to a nippy lil brat...He wants absolutely NOTHING to do with me or anyone that reaches into his viv...He has also bitten me like 4 times, one even to the point of lunging up bout 6" just to cling to my finger by his tiny jaws...OMG it jumped the living poo outta me but omg it was a riot...my son Calob even wanted to see what it felt like and OMG LMFAO when Dusti got him he lost it...hehehehehheheheh I don't think he, my sister or I ever laughed so hard before...lmao

Well...where to start?...Dusti had one hell of an awesome night...Not only did he get Mumma time, but he also got time with Auntie as well as time with his big (human) brother Calob (my oldest son)...Although I really think that his fave part of the night was his bath time with his big sis Nieryn (my CWD) omg it was a complete riot watching them swim together and muckle ahold of eachother...I don't know if its me or if they are just strange, but they get along soooo well together...it's almost like they are really brother and sister!...They never nip, charge, or show ANY aggression towards each other...its just great to see them cuddle up together in the towel after thier baths or even just to see them laying side by side up on my shoulder...(Nieryn's fave place to be)

I measured the lil Dust ball last night after his bath and he is growing like a weed! He is up to 7 5/8" long now and roughly about 1.5" across his belly! I haven't had the chance to weigh him yet but I did just get a nice food scale that does ounces...it wasn't too bad of a price either, I got it from Wal*mart and it only cost $19.99 (or so) but it works rather well too so I can't wait to see how much the lil one weighs...Oh speaking of weighing and what not...Dusti and Nieryn have a vet appt. this coming Monday and I will be getting some blood work done on my lil Dusti to see if we can determine his/her sex! Fingers crossed that he is not a HE and that he is a SHE!!! I have a mate lined up if Dusti turns out to be female!...Oh on a better note Dusti is getting better about the whole nipping thing...He still is a bit cage aggressive, but once he is in the palm of your hand he lightens right up and is the same ol' Dusti...My baby!

Well I have to head out for now, but look for pics soon...I will be adding a bunch and I'm even thinking of makin a collage of Dusti n his big sis Nieryn!

So cute. Are you feeding Dusti any vegetables? Too much fruit is not good for them although I would love if mine was interested in something more than just collard greens and superworms. lol

Hey all Dusti followers!

Well new update here...U ready for this one...Dusti is "officially" a female...I took her and Nieryn to the vets on the 24th and found out that not only is my Nieryn a BOY but that my lil mr. Dust ball is a Miss Dusti now...lmao...Wow was I backwards...Well after the visit my sister and I stopped at the Petco not too far down the road and had to bring my lil ones in too due to the -10* weather I was NOT about to leave them in the car...nooooooooo way!!!, But anyways...when we got in there my first stop as usual is the herp section and OMG I fell right in love with what I had found...2 nearly full grown beardies just chillin' in the tanks...OMG they were beautiful, although my sister was like eeeewwwwwww...She's a leopard gecko kinda girl and is NOT a big fan of the adult beardies...lmao I personally looove how chubby they get and how friendly most of em are...I even got to see my first head bobbing that day...omg it was just too cute...I even took Dusit out of her portable carrier and lifted her up so that she would be able to see the big beardies and she was right up to the glass like "hey you look familiar...do I know you?...I think I like you...lol" Needless to say her and Nieryn had one hell of a day...after Petco we even went to iParty (it was right next door) to see what my sister and I could find for our birthday party and omg Dusti looooves the disco balls...I'm even thinkin about getting a little one to put in her viv for her to roll around or something...Nieryn on the other hand was all like hey I wanna play with those HUGE rubber snakes...lmfao...he is suck a geek...but still my baby, they both are!!! I tell ya, I thought I had been blessed by having my two lil boys, Calob & Logan, but I gotta say my herps make me feel 2x as blessed even if Dusti has a bit of an attitude issue...but you name one female that hasn't had one...lmao...I know I do...he he he...no but she is a good girl even if she has sunk teeth into my finger and drew blood...lol she still be my baby!!!Hell look what child birth puts ya through...I think a tiny little bite I can handle...lol

oh....psst!!! If I can get my lousy internet to work for me later I plan to put some more pics up tonight but we see what will happen!!!

I liked your last written post.... can't believe that was only 2.5 weeks ago.
I miss Dusti and Nieryn..Just as Phenyx & onyx miss you.
