Dusting Worms

Hello Everyone!

I have a quick question regarding the need to dust phoenix worms with calcium. Do you need to dust the worms as you would crickets 5x a week with calcium, or can the dustings be reduced due to the high calcium found in the worms naturally? Also- what about the D3? Is there a need to add that to the worms for proper digestion and bone health?

I do dust the worms with the multi-vit 2x a week.

Overall I am loooooving the Phoenix worms! Little to no smell, easily kept cool in a small cooler for longevity and my little guy Brian seems to enjoy them (well, until he decided to go on a hunger strike... Picky picky eaters!)

Thank you!

Your calcium should already have d3 added to it i think.

I think your getting protein confused with calcium. I haven't heard of PW's having high calcium, maybe high protein yes. I would still dust them with calcium though since im pretty sure your getting calcium confused with protein. If your not mistaking, correct me and tell me where you found your info about them having calcium, i'd like to look it up.

Alrighty.

The little bugger is growing well so I know he must be getting at least some good calcium. I have a mega ray bulb on the way so soon d3 won't even be an issue!!

Thanks :)

PW are very high in calcium and a dragon eating them as a staple required no calcium supplementation.

I was wondering if that was true. I think feeding Phoenix worms as a staple would be easier than dusting roaches everytime. I guess the only downside is cost of PWs and the size a lot will last very little.

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
