Dusting Locusts and Crickets

I buy the locusts and crickets from pet shops and such, I gut load them on veg the night before by using the same greens I put in the enclosure for the beardies during the day and night.

I just wondered what is the best way to dust the critters in the box, as they come with that egg box thing and when I put the powder in and mix it round just does not seem to cover the feeders that well, some are and some are not.

Just wondered if anyone had any tips for this.

Thanks.

i use a separate box that used to have locusts in, i took out the egg carton and put calcium powder in it, so i pick the locusts out of the box, put them in the other one, shake it about, then they're good to go :D

I have another tub with vitamin powder in aswell :D

I guess you use tongs to get out the locusts then?

Good idea, although dusting a lot of crickets could be quiet time consuming and still have to stop them from getting out I guess... :D

I dont use tongs, just pick them up by hand,
And i used to separate them into boxes two,
I know do each one individualy :D
As they will only eat when hand fed, it justs seems easier,
I dont use crickets, but i used too...and jheez they were a pain,
now i just feed an all locust diet.

As Ziggy said, I stick them in a bag, put some powder in and shake them all up. It's easy if you put the egg carton with the crickets all over it inside the bag and then shake the crickets off into the bag, then take out the egg carton and shake and bake!! Lol, I love that.

Thanks for the advice, like the shake and bake with the egg cups idea.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
