Ducky!

Hi all! I rescued Ducky (from land before time lol) yesterday from some weirdo who had her in a tiny terrarium filled with sand and no lights at all. He said she is a few months old and got her as a hatchling. Now she is temporarily in a medium size exo terra I set up for her until I finish building a larger home and very happy. She ate 8 superworms last night and this morning, plus got a good bath (currently shedding) and some play time. I was really surprised how active and friendly she is with me so soon. I look forward to sharing all the fun to come!

Kudos for the rescue!

Ducky looks like she is loving the light and will greatly appreciate the custom you are building for her ! Would love to see the pics when its done.

I saw two babies in a petland the other day while grabbing a quick restock on crickets till my package comes in of 1000 and they had two beardies both with uvb bulbs not over their cage(5.0 bulb not the 10.0) that went through the screens and both beardies were about 1-2 month difference in age but roughly about the same size, I could only tell one was older as he had a much bigger head.

Wish I had the time/money/space to save them. The also had a pair of monitors for 150 but it was only 1 left and he was literally bleeding from a ripped off toe, and a really messed up/ripped tail which was also bleeding fresh blood :(

Of course when I brought it up during the purchase the kid didn't know better and said thats what owner said to keep it at. very very sad :(

Mephisto: That is really terrible, I know exactly how you feel. I can't stand seeing 15 leopard geckos stuck in a tiny cage at petco. After college when I get a house I will probably end up saving a lot more reptiles lol.

Well Ducky has been shedding non stop for 2 weeks now. Last week she appeared to be all done with no more light gray skin. Then a couple days later started all over again. I assume this is because her previous owner had NO lighting and only fed her little pellets. So she was never able to properly shed. Now she eats super worms and kale everyday with plenty of good light.

Here are some pictures of her playing.

Leo was watching...he runs away if she gets close to him. We never let her play with the dog inside. Last week he ran into the room and threw Toothless my leopard gecko across the room. Luckily she was not injured. Toughest reptile I have ever known. We traveled cross country three times. I built a tank heater just for her for my truck when we drove 2 days below Zero.

Just a little update. Ducky is nice and happy in her new home since I upgraded to the big terrarium I scored from a pet store "King of Scales; Arlington, TX" for $200. My leopard gecko Toothless is living large in the other smaller side of it. The UV light looks a little redneck, I will be buying a 2 foot fixture with a 10.0 bulb soon.

Hello,

It sounds like little Ducky is doing very well now! I am glad to hear she has improved so much for you.
The new tank looks great, also. I am sure that she loves it too. :D
It looks like Toothless has a nice setup now as well.

You can post updates anytime.

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
