Hey everyone!

I'm leaving for boot camp in a couple of months and need to get rid of my roaches. I have 2- 55 gallon Rubbermaid containers with probably 3000-8000 roaches in them....I know, I have a lot. I was thinking about selling them but don't know how much shipping is to ship them and how to ship them. :?:

My questions are...

1) How do I ship them? UPS or USPS? what kind of boxes? Heat packs Y/N? About how much?

2) How much should I offer per roach? I was thinking...
100...$20 .20ea
250...$48 .19ea
500...$85 .17ea...is that fair pricing? I would put in a 5% or so over count also.

3) How do people pay? I have a paypal but is that how people pay? or do they send money orders?

Hope you all can help me out. They all need to go, my parents said they don't want them once I leave. ( I think they are afraid, haha) If you have questions for me, message me or send me an email at [email protected].

1) I always use USPS.com You can get free boxes from them also. I always double box.

You have posted in other threads about selling them, yes you are trying to sell them.

understandably you need to get rid of your roaches but you need to follow the rules of the forum and post in the proper place. a small fee is needed but it goes to keeping this site up and running along with the others that sponsor this site. now if you were to truly want to rid yourself of your roaches there are many that would gladly re-coup your postage and even toss a few bucks your way. even a donation to the right rescues can reap the benefit of a tax deduction.

Given the current temps, I don't think you need heat packs, it's warm enough now. I would take some egg crates and talk to your preferred shipping method and see if they have boxes available that the egg crates will fit snugly in. I don't know what you should sell them for, but you can look around at a few websites and see what others are charging. If you need them gone quickly, price them low. If you have time, then price them similarly. Get quotes for shipping before you decide who to use. Pass the cost of the shipping and supplies to the buyer, and round up to the nearest dollar. I would post the whole set ups for sale on CL or something similar. If I were local, I would probably be willing to buy an already-breeding colony. As for paying, I think you can use paypal. People are comfortable using it - I don't prefer it, but I use it sometimes. I wouldn't bother with a money order - but that's just me. If a merchant can't take my visa card (or locally, cash) then they don't get my business.

I realize that you are asking for advice on selling, rather than selling, but it does seem to skirt the line.
