Dubia - what kind of dish for water gel?

I've started up a dubia colony, but I'm worried that the tiny babies can't climb into my water gel dish. I'm currently using a plastic lid with very short sides as a dish. What do other people use for dishes to contain the water gel but still let the tiny babies crawl in and out?

I just use a plastic lid as well! It's from an old yogurt container. To ensure it is short enough, I trimmed the edges.

Uh !!!!!!!!! They are roaches. Just dump it on the floor. No dish needed for food or water crystals.

@Doublet74 even though that definitely does work, you don't want too much moisture mixing with food. It'll spoil faster and mold will kill off a colony very quickly.

it'll also make sorting them out and cleaning a pain.

we use food storage thingies from the dollar store. They come in a 3 pack. If you use something plastic you can use sandpaper on it to make it ruff and they can crawl up it easy

I dump chow on one side water crystals on the other both gone in 3 days. But I guess if you have small colony it would be a problem. I probably have about 4,000 in my container so it doesn't last long enough to mold.
