Dubia roaches??

Okay so ive heard the best staple food for them are dubia roaches. How much money do i need to start a colony? How many roaches do i need to start one? Are they easy to feed and house? How long does it take for them to grow? The Dubia Knows it All forum really doesnt help me, and doesnt say what you need for them to grow. I really want to breed my own feeders, i dont want to spend all of my allowance on only a beardie (which i dont have yet). I would like to spend my money on myself too sometimes. Help?

Hi. You need to buy a colony. Depending on how many you buy is how much it costs. I bought from abdragons.com they have free shipping, but there are a bunch of different breeders to buy from that ive been happy with. I like to add from different breeders once in a while just so there is not to much inbreeding lol. You need an 18gal tote dark, I use a heating pad with out the automatic shut off. Bought it on amazon. It takes a few months for them to grow. I usually go to the for sale section on here thats where I found my roach colony. Expect to spend easily 100.00 or more to start. Good luck its worth it

Can check locally like Craigslist for people selling dubias. I picked up 50 freshly molted females for $40 and he even threw in like 10 males even though I had too many males already since this was just to bolster my colony and add genetic variety. But if you are buying online expect to pay anywhere from $1-2 per adult female. You can also check out for starter colonies from places like http://www.dubideli.com/Store.html. How many you will need depends on how much you beardie eats. Generally you will want 3 times what your beardie eats per month to be born so for example, your beardie ate 100 a month. You would want 300 babies per month. Each female has around 20 babies a month.
