Hey All

Just a quick question and sorry if it has been asked before...! I am looking to get my first BD as soon as I get back from our family holiday in around 12 weeks, I have been reading about feeders and I think Dubia Roaches is what I would like to go for in the long term with crickets at first until I can grow my colony. For one average fully grown BD how many females to males would you require to keep from either having faaaaaaaaar too many roaches but also so that you don't end up with a shortage?

Also can a fully grown BD eat a fullsize adult male Dubia Roach without any problems?

Sorry if this is a silly questions... and thanks loads in advance :D

If you get dubia -- you'll end up with extras. they breed like crazy!!! lol well worth the money. it's better to have too many feeders than not enough ;)

full size BDs love to munch down adult dubiae

Thanks!

If I ended up with too many what would my options be to cull them back?

get another beardie!!! or leopard gecko!!!! or or or !!!!

you could sell them, give them away... i suppose thats about it.

to be honest -- my dubia are kind of out of control right now, so i bought 2 sister leopard geckos to thin out the colony

i coulda gone on here and/or craigslist and tried to sell some, but what's the fun in that ;)

I am getting a starter colony this weekend-- 1,000 adults and juvies. :blob5: :blob8: :blob5: :blob8: :blob5:

I don't expect to have any extras, even if the tarrantula still won't eat her roaches. I have a greenhouse chock FULL of carnivorous plants that would be GLAD to take the extras off my hands. 8)

I'd suggest that if you have too many, cull a few females. Make sure to leave some, though!

You will have extras, if it bothers you then just heavily feed adult females so their babies wont hatch.

I would say that an adult dubia is even small for an adult beardie, my 17.5 inch beardie easily gobbles up adult discoid roaches :D

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
