Nope. Just straight acrylic polymer no fertilizer added. Soil Moist does make one that has fertilizer in it called Soil Moist Plus. Bonus points if you can guess what the Plus is [/quote]

I'm assuming I follow the directions on the bag and put it in a tupperware with holes... How long will a 1 lb bag last me?
I am getting about 350 nymphs that are either 1/4 or 1/2"

I bought a bag of Soil Moist about a year ago. I've used up maybe 1/10 of the bag. It'll last you a long time

And yes follow the instructions on the bag. I put it on a lid like from a butter tub and it's shallow enough that the small roaches can still reach it, although you could probably still get good results with the tupperware with holes.

I think I bought the wrong heat pad.... >_<
It shuts off after an hour....
Also, I'm still not getting a hang of this water crystal thing.
I gave them an apple core in the mean time.

the way i understand it anything with moisture in it like oranges, apples, stuff like that will give them moisture and liquid but water crystals are really the easiest i think. I am still working on a 1gallon jug i made up over 6 months ago and still have about 1/2 of it left. :) as for the heating pad, check out amazon.com and look for a heating pad that does not have an auto shut-off. I put mine on top of some egg crates so that i did not heat my floor up too much and i found it keeps the bin hotter it seems. Also, just a heads up, if i read correctly, wha tyou are starting with will not last long if you are feeding from that colony. My 3 beardies went thru about 1k small and medium in about 10 days. I am now rebuilding my colony. Just throwing that out there so you know to make sure you have TONS of roaches depending on how often you plan on feeding.

you can look on youtube for easy ways to stop your pad from shutting off. I did and it took me a whole 5 minutes to do. Couldnt be happier. They say to use a solder but as long as you snap the connection on the right pin it will not shut off. Hope that helps. :study:

Is it okay to use a reptile under-tank heater? I got mine as part of the set-up that I bought from a gentleman, but I refuse to use it for my beardie, I can't stand the thought of burning him. If it's okay to use that one, how do I attach it to the bin? I know that seems like a silly question, but wouldn't I need something that can handle heat? Maybe electrical tape? Also, if I do end up using that heating pad, how do I control the temperature? I know that human heat-pads are much better, but I happen to have this one sitting around and I don't want to have to go out and buy something new if I can use the one I already have. Does anyone have suggestions?

I suppose that depends on the size of the heating pad. I have one that is used for 10-20g tanks.. and it does say to only use it on glass. I took a chance and stuck it to the side. I did not want to stick it to the bottom because I didn't want to melt it and have all my roaches escape. I stuck it to the side two weeks ago.. it has been plugged in ever since.. and it has been fine. It doesn't get anywhere near warm enough to melt plastic. If it were to malfunction.. it could potentially melt it. That is the biggest reason people say not to use them.. its not that it will burn your pet.. because if it is working propperly it will not. BUT.. if it were to malfunction... which can happen.. then it could burn your pet.. crack your tank.. any number of bad things. Long story short.. Just in case of malfunction I have it in the garage so that the roaches wont end up in my house! I also have a walgreens human heating pad under the bin. It has a 2 hour shut off.. I mostly only use it at night.. but I have to keep going back in there to turn it on because the video on youtube.. is for a different model.. and I could not disable it. I opened it and tried.. but it looked entirely different and I didnt want to risk breaking it.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
