Hi. I live in Florida and we face hefty fines for having Dubia here. I tried some Discoid roaches for my beardies and they love them but they are so expensive to buy. Does anyone know where we can get a Discoid colony or if there are other roach options available to us in Florida?
They like the superworms, but I would like to have roaches available, too. Supers take a long time to breed.

where did you order your discoids from? I want to order some and start a breeding colony of my own. I think that's the cheapest option considering how expensive they are. I am just trying to find a legit online place to buy them.

The 10 that I tried were just from a local couple who have a colony for their beardies. I am still looking for a colony. My beardies LOVED the ones that I tried them on.

MulberryFarms sells them but the shipping is expensive. I have looked for a place that sells them in Fl but cant find anywhere! It is really crazy because they are a native here. If you ever see them in the wild you could always catch them and breed them. I have never seen any though in central Fl. Tons of palmetto bugs though. :puke:

Oh no way. I hate Palmetto bugs! Found a huge one on my back porch the other day. Glad my beardie did not spot it first.
I am still looking into options for a colony. I will post if I find a good option. Thanks for your help.

I've seen this person advertising many times on fauna for roaches that are legal in Florida. If they're near you, you might even be able to save on shipping.

Setting up a roach colony is always going to be expensive, but should be worth the money and the wait.

I checked out Florida Roaches and they look like the solution. Their prices are the best I have seen anywhere and they seem very knowlegable. Thank you so much for the link!!!! I appreciate that.

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
