Dubia mass murder

i had my gf watch my dubia colony for several months since i have no more room in my place. now i went over her house to check on them "she said they were doing great!" i open up the contanier and it look like it didnt grown at all well im turn over some egg crates and find at least a 1000 almost nymths dead! i check the temp of the uth and its a 142!!!!! now im searching everywhere in north jesey for a helix since i know she will do this again. so if u have a helic and are in jersey or ny let me know and i will cme to you asap i cant afford to lose that many dubia again.

sorry dont have one but i had a worst experiance with my wife. i got deployed over seas and left my snake collection with her at home. i made sure everything was set up for them. temps were right, termastat was set up with flex watt tape. when i got back home i found out 3 redtail boas, 1 ball python, and king snake had died. when i asked her what happend she sed the power strip broke during the winter and she forgot to go buy a new one. the moral of the story is dont expect anyone to take your reps. or feeders the way you will take care of them. good luck

Helix is a thermostat for heat tape. http://www.reptilebasic.com and get you a cheap one.

does anyone in here know anything about the bah-1000sc its way cheaper then a helix and it does the job for 40 bucks, heres a link

i dont know about that one in particualr. but i do know that someoen on here was selling the helix for 120 shipped.

i set it at 86 and it keeps the bins air temp around 85 total ish. i had to raise it up off the ground a tiny bit tho since the floor of the container gets to about 95 and the thermo doesnt go that high. works perfectly, the only thing is that you want to get one that is proportional meaning that it adjust the power to meet the temp needs. The reptistat deal that zoo med has simply turns off the power when you reach the desired temps, much like how a typical household thermo works.

we have used this as well but i also have had good luck with just a light dimmer.
