so i have had my dubia for a week or so and i'm already seeing babys. I got everything down pretty well. What i was wondering is if there is anything that i cant feed them? i just dont want to kill my whole colony on accident haha. And if anyone knows about any food other than oranges that is supposed to make them grow and reproduce faster let me know. Thanks :)

My colony has been producing quite well recently also. I usually give them a half of an orange, half an apple, carrots, chow and water crystals. Usually the apple is the first thing gone.....
I'm not sure if this answers your question, but as far as foods and reproduction.....I can testify for apples and oranges.

Give your dubia quality roach chow, the stems of fresh greens left over from making dragon salads, a slice of whole grain bread once a week and the orange and apple slices once to twice a week. The oranges and apples are really the best as far as stimulating breeding. You can make your own quality roach chow too. A 5 lb bag of high protein puppy or kitty food (organic is best to use), a can of tropical fish flakes, and either baby cereal or a whole grain cereal like cheerios.
Feed them a good diet, give them the fruits/greens (change them out the next day to avoid mold), keep the water gel freshened, temps and humidity in the right range and your colony should start taking off!

I made my first batch just last week. I used High quality cat food, fish flakes and generic oats. I was quite sceptical about it, but the minute it went into the bin, I noticed a response. I came back with some apples, carrots and water crystals to find two females already at the chow. I'm quite excited to know that the chow is a hit and will continue to save me money while keeping my feeders and beardies healthy and fed.

Yeah, I got a thing of whole oats, and 3.5 lbs of high protein puppy chow for $3.50. The oats are ninja'd from my pantry, been sitting there for several months un-opened. My mom bought them on one of her health food kicks and never opened it, so good for me. I made like a half and half mixture of the two, put em in a blender for a few seconds, the put a handful or so into my bins. I have discoids, which are supposedly more timid about being seen than dubia, and I still had like, 5 or 6 run straight from their crates right into the food. Even with the lights on, and me standing over the bin and the lid off. I also toss in 1/4 oranges or 1/2 oranges every couple of days.

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
