So i have just started my own breeding colony of dubia and everything seems to be going well enough apart from it keeps getting wet inside the bin.
There is far too much moisture, i have to keep wiping it down every day so it doesn't grown mold and stuff.
I just don't know why it keeps happening, i have no humidifier inside because it's too wet already and i give them water crystles and i don't think they evaporate..
I think that maybe there isn't enough air getting into the bin, there are lots of small holes drilled into the lid. I noticed people use mesh and cut a big hole out, maybe i have to do that?
Here's some pics anyway~

On one you can see all the moisture on the sides and it pools in the corners 'cause they dip a little.

At the risk of mold forming inside and possibly killing the colony, you should definitely look at cutting open a larger hole and using the mesh to fill it. I had holes drilled into my super worm tubs and even those would get a lot of condensation despite living in a relatively arid climate. Ended up drilling more, and that worked, but it was a smaller volume of insects. For a large colony, you probably should have a large one.

Yea the only thing I can think of is not enough ventilation cut a hole for ventilation and glue or duct tape the bottom and top of the screen so it stay in place the dubia never get that high anyways.

I'm thinking of getting a new, higher bin anyway so i'll do it to that one :3

The one i have now, the small nymphs can actually crawl up the side and a couple have got caught in the lid. Everything should be better with a new tub :D

another thing I just saw was your orange on your dry food you should keep anything moist on a separate tray to avoid mold. :D

I use an 18 gallon, blue bin. I cut a large section out of the top and used screen to cover it (using hot glue). I put clear tape around the top edge on the inside of the bin. I've never seen a baby dubia get past the tape.

If the humidity in your house or garage gets over 70% then probably isn't a way to keep the moisture from forming. I have 4 bins in my house with no moisture problems at all (humidity in my house is anywhere from 50-60 in the summer). I put one bin of adult males in my garage just to get them out of the house and after one day the egg flats were wet. To much humidity and no way to bring it down so I had to move them back inside.

I suggest standing your egg flats vertically so the majority of the frass falls to the plastic floor rather than collecting in the card paper cells!
I also suggest you do not use clear containers,.....preferably opaque for Dubias!
I cannot see your heat source?? I use light bulbs through the lid and that constant 90 degree heat helps keep the container moisture in check.
In my experience,....Drilling holes through plastic lids does not vent nearly as well as hot glued or duct taped screening!
Bless,
Bill

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
