Drunken behavior is the only way I can discribe how my female is at the min.I don't understand what is wrong with her.her head twitches occasionally.but she's quite unsteady and wobbly on her feet.angel is two years old, I have been giving her calcium in her food very day (dusted) and nutrobal once a week for all her life.have I over dosed her on vitamins .not sure what to do.she's still eating .all the other dragons have all so had the same diet and seem fine.I know there viv is spot on.4 ft wide 6 ft tall three levels to climb. Two 12 per cent achadias and two baskin lights at different levels.they have the perfect life.at the vets checked every three months wormed regular ect I just don't understand.the only thing that has been different is the have been enjoying munching on large fully grown adult locusts.any advice would be appreciated

Hi there,

Can you get a picture of your tank please?

I would cut back on the calcium dusting... adults should only get meals dusted with calcium around 3 times a week.

How old are your arcadias?

Your setup is different, so providing a picture would be a great help.

Al go on my big computer now and download an old pic I have.the inside deco has been changed a bit.my bulbs are changed every four months, in all my vivs.I like to think i take them out and replace a little early rather than late.al change the dusting.that might be why her last clutch of eggs were in fertile which isn't like her.

the bottom has no lights as its where my females have there eggs they also go there to chill out when the temps get hot at midday mimicking natural behaviours.

.... you obviously don't......

And I can tell you right now they are not "happy" living together. The dominant one might be happy... but the dominated ones aren't. It's not in a dragons nature to be submissive unless they have no choice. They are solitary creatures they don't live together in the wild because of how territorial they are. They want their own space and they will defend it. They only ever come together in the wild for mating purpose and then separate.

Anyways....

Where these temps taken with a digital thermometer with probe? How long did you wait with the thermometer there before accepting the final reading?

30c is about 86F correct? That is WAY too low. At those temps your dragons can't even properly digest their food. Bearded dragons require a MINIMUM of 95f at the basking site to digest food. I highly recommend you bump temps up to 100F.

Has this female recently laid eggs?

It is EXTREMELY tough on a females system to be living with a male who just wants to breed. The fact that you have a permanent egg box at the bottom of the tank leads to me assume that your females laying eggs is no rare occurrence.

The female in question.. was she in the picture? I only saw two dragons.

I am sorry I didn't tell you what you wanted to hear. Dont take offense to it im not doing it to make you mad, im doing it because I happen to care about bearded dragons.

Obviously if you have a sick female, the first logical decision that would pop into my head would be to separate her for a multitude of reasons. 1, if she has something contagious i wouldn't want my other dragons getting it. 2, she needs to feel safe to rest and heal up. 3, there is obviously something wrong in her current living arrangements to make her act like this.

Were you seriously expecting someone to to reply to you saying you are doing everything perfect? Or can you put your pride down and let us help your dragon.

If you can, please just answer the rest of my questions.

You feel threatened? I dont believe brandon said anything threatening and the reason you are defensive is because you know hes correct and you are wrong.

Obviously everything in your setup is NOT spot on or else you would have a basking spot of the temperatures that they need, which in case you didnt know is 95°

Like Brandon said, swallow your pride and help your dragon.

Bad comments removed by moderator. You've been warned, you're being argumentative, which is against the rules of this PG 13 site. Brandon was trying to help, so keep your language down.

1) she is in a seprate tank.as soon as i saw a diffrece in behaviour so no cross contaminations.
2) she is regualarly checked at vets and has featal samples done. she is reg wormed .
3) she has been breed once and has produced to lots of eggs. 1 fertile 1 not .

this is a picture of her today....and please keep this about her and not me thank you. i have already took on bourd that i need to cut down on supliments so i am greatful for that information.i am not this monster nowhere has anyone called you a monster, added by moderatoryou must think i am overbreeding and keeping a male constantlky in with a bunch of females...And no-one has said anything about you keeping a male in with your females but you, you already explained your position. Hi there,

I truly am sorry if you did feel like you were thought of as a monster. I never said that I was just trying to explain to you how dragons should not be housed together.

It's totally up to you whether or not you want to house together its your dragons, but thats why I said "anyways....", so we could move on from that...

Have you got blood work done on her? Usually shaking is a sign of calcium deficiency. But with the amount of calcium you are giving I don't know if this would be the case. Blood work would help determine what is going on in her body.

When she was in the tank, was she basking a lot under the arcadia? or was she not really basking?

You first mentioned your basking site is 30c which is about 86f. Is is actually 93-98 or is it 86?
What type of thermometer are you using? A digital with probe? A temp gun? Or a dial stick on?

I want to keep helping you for the sake of your dragon, but its hard to try to keep helping someone who is calling me stupid and telling me to go walk of a pier... All I am trying to do is help your girl.

I don't understand why people come on here to ask advice, and then get mad when they don't get the advice they want to hear. What is the point of that?

I'm going to have to agree with Brandon and Brooke, but I'm afraid you won't listen anyway. I don't know what other advice to give you.

Good luck to you and your dragons.

Your beardie is beautiful, love snow dragons, especially with orange colouring around her eyes. Hope she feels better soon!

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
