My dragons tail came off like 1-2 weeks ago and it was black and heard right now the same about of it is hard and shriveled I just want to know what this is and how I can help my dragon
Hi, can you post a pic of the whole tail ? That is tail rot. It will need to be amputated up above where you see the difference in the scales, about 1/2 inch below your thumb. BTW they do very well with amputations and recover within a day or 2.

That's a good pic. So you can see where the scales change from normal to red ? It needs amutated right above the red area. The tissue is infected underneath and it will keep moving under the scales killing the tissue. If you don't have a good reptile vet or qualified exotics vet you will need one ASAP to do the surgery.

Do you know how long we have because the vets we see are only open during school hours and I am in school my mom is a teacher and my dad works all over the place we end school in 2 weeks so I wa t to know if we have to go sometime during school days or we can wait a little
Ok thank you for all this help I would also like to say the he doesn’t use his back legs and bearly poops I will tell that to the vet I just wanted to know if you had any clue what it could be
Oh I'm sorry....can you post pics of his entire tank with the light set up ? What are the temps. ? Take pics of your uvb lights and basking bulb. The leg paralysis may be from lack of uvb [ old or weak bulb ] , not high enough basking temps .

Temps are good but could be 5 degrees higher on the basking side. More importantly, what is the long tube uvb brand and how old is it ? If you don't know the brand can you get it out of the reflector to see ? It's pretty far from the dragon so it needs to be a very high watt bulb, Arcadia 12-14% t5.
