My heat lamp went out a few days ago and today I got a new one, it was it for probably 2 whole days. I couldn't get a new one sooner because of work, but I'm not entirely sure it's relevant to what's going on.. Ivy hasn't eaten in about a week but he's still pooping normally. Last night he pooped in my bed which is VERY unlike him. In the 2 years I've had him he has never pooped outside the tank so that's when I got a little concerned. Today I noticed his beard was super black, he didn't seem agitated at all or scared, it's been dark for a few days but today it was BLACK, I took him out of his tank to give him a bath and see if it would help but it didn't. His body puffed up really weirdly and he went kinda limp. His eyes didn't seem alert at all and when I put him back in his tank he started to choke or dry heave and I got really scared. I went to comfort him and he stopped but he just hasn't been himself these past few days.. He doesn't run around like he usually does he doesn't greet me when I come home he just seems really lethargic. Anyone have any ideas of what might be wrong?

Hello,

How old is Ivy?
Can you review your tank setup with us, such as the type/brand of UVB light, the supplements,
substrate, foods given & the temperatures so we can be sure everything is correct. If you
have any pictures of him & your tank setup you can post those also.
Is his beard black right now?
It most likely isn't related to the light going out for a couple of days. Had he eaten prior to
the lamp going out? If so, then maybe he had some trouble digesting. Otherwise, a couple of
days without heating shouldn't cause a quick decline, it's probably just coincidence, hopefully.
Is he basking at all right now, since you put in a new bulb?

Ivy is 2 beard is back to normal at the moment. I took a few pictures a bit ago but I don't know how you attach them.. I believe he did eat before the light went out I forgot the name of the uvb I'm pretty sure it's a reptisun 10 tank is 40 gallons, he's on reptile carpet he gets calcium and reptivite, super worms, I try to give him more veggies then worms. Need been basking since I put the bulb in

He looks good in the first picture. His eyes are bright and alert. Just a black beard which I'd attribute to mood possibly related to his shed. In the third picture his eyes are sunken and he looks quite distressed. If that is how he looks now I definitely advise bringing him to an experienced reptile vet.

Hello,

How is Ivy doing today, any updates for us?

Tracie

Took him to the vet today actually didn't really get answers I'll get results from the fecal test tomorrow but I have to say that he looks EXTREMELY bad not sure he'll make it through the night. The vet gave me a liquid calcium and a powder to mix with water as a food. They also gave him an injection which also consisted of calcium and since then his eyes have sunken in and they are completely unresponsive. He's having trouble moving. I tried to soak him because the vet told me to soak him 20 minutes a day and within 30 seconds I took him out because he looked so bad. He's back in his tank now after an attempted soaking and his 2 prescriptions

I'd go easy on the carnivore care. That is high in protein and may tax his systems. Did they take blood to test? That is probably the most useful test at this point so you can see how his organs are functioning. Try to keep him hydrated by dripping water on his nose to lick up. Hopefully the subcutaneous fluid injection will help though. That usually works pretty well when hydration is a factor.

Didn't take a blood test they took a sample of his poop since I suspected parasites. He didn't look this bad before going in though. Right now he can't even support his own weight. I don't think he'll even make it until tomorrow

Poor guy. Keep him warm and comfortable. Maybe wrap him up in a fleece blanket and hold him for a while to share some warmth.

He's laying on me now wrapped in a towel. Still breathing, actually looking better than what he looked like in the tank but still. Not good. Hopefully a little rest will help him but I don't know..

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
