Dragon Nail Colour...

I suppose this is general - it's not a health issue. Searched the boards and found health related issues - not mine!

Saw a dragon today that looked SO VERY MUCH like Tiki (http://www.beardeddragon.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=49&t=153774 hello Horus!) - but had black nails. Tiki has clear nails.

I've seen it somewhere and just cannot find it anywhere - would someone be so kind as to remind me what kind of a breed totally clear nails would reflect?

I think it's hypo melanistic?? don't quote me though as this is from memory and mines not that great... lol

A hypo has all clear nails.

On a true Hypo all the nails are clear. Here is a good article I found on genetics and their characteristics.

Hypo is no black pigment and translucent is no white pigment, so hypo-translucent would have neither black or white cells. Both Hypo & Hypo translucent have clear nails.

And in case you were wondering about eyes, all black eyes are in translucent.

She's healthy, right? Being hypo isn't a bad thing, is it?

She's perfectly fine. It's just a genetic mutation. My girl Peach is a hypo and she is as healthy as a horse. She is already as big as my other girl that is six weeks older.

If you go to a breeder site, such as bloodbank you will see things like hypo, or trans. These are just genetics and are actually what people look for when purchasing dragons sometimes. I have a hypo also. This means there is a lack of the black pigment, such making their nails clear. I have a hypo pastel, so mine lacks a LOT of black pigment lol. I have yet to see her beard turn anything but milky white.

Tiki's gets this beautiful sunshine yellow when she's awake and basking - that's about it. When she's asleep, and first wakes up - she's basically white.

I did a little research after happening upon my baby at the Daytona Expo this past weekend, he's Hypo Translucent. You can see his nails are clear if you look closely. I can't wait to see what he's gonna look like when he gets older. Anybody have a hypo trans adult? I'd love to see one.

Same here. One exception is a trans silkie. They are awesome, I think anyways.
