Hi, I have a year old male dragon. He eats fine (good diet of mustard greens/mixed veggies and crickets - all researched and good to go), but has not wanted to bask for the past two days, plus has not pooed in ~5-7 days. Usually he has no problems basking and is on a regular poo schedule of every 3rd day.

I have bathed him and rubbed his belly for an hour for the last three days. I don't feel anything clogging him up in there, but he still won't go. I'm worried now because it's affecting his behavior. I put him on his basking log and he actually chose to get off the log, rather than lay there. His temperatures and lighting are good and haven't ever given him an issue before.

Please help, thank you!!

Hi there...it's usually nothing to worry about as they approach adulthood and don't poo as often. And he knows where his basking spot is and will go there if he needs to. Did you by chance just change any of his lights ? It may be that he's in a semi slow down because of the season, but he may actually be stressed by the belly rubs and not as confident in his tank right now. Long belly rubs are never necessary.....what you can do to help is use a few natural laxatives. Try applesauce, canned pumpkin, baby food prunes or squash [ any or a combo of any ] as well as about 1/4 teaspoon of veg. oil or raw honey. Then bathe for 10 minutes using warmer than usual water. That should do the trick. But he's probably going to go any time now with or without any help. He should be fine. :)

Yes most of the honey you buy in the grocery store has been pasteurized. I got mine from a local producer that doesn't pasteurize their honey. You'll have to check labels to ensure it's non pasteurized. Usually the stuff in the grocery stores looks more like corn syrup than real honey.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!

Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
