I’m considering bringing a Bearded Dragon into our home, where we already have a very tame and mellow Indian Ringneck (bird). In your opinion is this cruel to either the bird or the lizard?
I am sure that more will respond here, so I am bumping up your thread for you.
There are quite a few people here on the boards that keep birds in combination with
other reptiles, such as bearded dragons.
I believe that they can be kept in the same domain but definitely be mindful about the
noise factor & distances between them so your dragon wont feel that a predator is in
his or her space. I wouldn't want any injuries to occur.
I would still appreciate any feedback, if anybody has any, however, I also cross-posted a similar question at the parrot forum I participate in. There are multiple parrot owners who also keep reptiles without any problems. It appears, when done right, this "exotic combo" can be okay.
We have a parakeet and a dragon in the same room. Bird cage door is always open but he doesn't like to come out too often. When we're having dragon floor explore time and the bird does decide to come out and take a lap or two around the room, our dragon just looks up and goes back to what he is doing. We've only had our dragon since January, but in that time I haven't seen any sign of either animal being stressed by the other. They never really interact with each other. Of course, they are always supervised when either/both of them are out.
