Hey Everyone,
So I just got done reading abut doubling your UVB output by using a dome reflector or even aluminum foil. Has anyone done this and seen any benefit? Also where would you buy the reflectors I cant seem to find them anywhere? Just a thought

I got some stove flashing from a hardwere store and made a reflector. Flashing is thin shiny metal and is easy to work with. I didn't use foil because it needs to be really flat and it wrinkles too much.

Really? that UK based UVB website, the one that does all the testing with the different bulbs said a reflector increases the output. Maybe they just meant more rays are directed at the reptile instead of bouncing around.

Hello,

The OP is correct. Using reflective backing can almost double the UVB output if placed properly & at the correct distances. That is why it is recommended that the fluorescent tube fixtures have reflective backing on them. It helps reflect more UVB downward towards your lizard instead of the UVB just refracting everywhere in the tank.
Here is the chart comparing the readings with & without reflector use.

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
