Doesn't this sound strange?

So... I was lurking online cause i've been wanting another beardie. When I found someone who lives right by me is selling their 2 year old , the tank, carrier, EVERYTHING for $30 which is extremely cheap... I spent $300 on Digger. Does this sound like there could be something wrong with it? They honestly didn't say why they were getting rid of it or anything about its health. I did tell them i'm interested in buying it especially if it needs to see a vet.

It's not always a bad thing. I was given my adult dragon Vader, his huge tank, lights, driftwood, everything for FREE. The previous owner was going away to college and the parents didn't want it anymore. So far Vaders been happy and healthy for almost a year in my care now. I'd say go check out the beardie before purchasing since you say the seller lives right by you.

When people don't want something anymore, they just want to get rid of it! You'd be surprised how cheap you can get things. Live animals are no different! I have seen bearded dragons on craigslist for a little more and even less. Make sure you check out the bearded dragon before buying it to see what you will be getting yourself into.

Good luck! Let up know what happens :D

The only problem I have his CONVINCING the parents I can handle it. They aren't too reptile crazy but absolutely love Digger, My mums the only one who won't hold him though. But they were my babysitters for a week while I was at camp and did a very good job. The only way I can convince them is to show them i'm responsible enough and they say I take very good care of Digger. but any other way possible!?!?

I just picked up an adult male with a 55 gallon tank, rocks, food and water dishes, wood, UTH and some calcium dust for $0. Turns out the son had lost interest in the beardie and the mom just wanted him gone to a good home. Heck, she even delivered him to my house, that's about 30 miles away and well over an hour drive. So, yes, there are people that are either in over their heads or just can't continue to care for a beardie that will let them go for next to nothing.

Actually, I rescued my first beardie and pretty much got the same deal that I mentioned above for him.

I will mention this; neither of my rescues had UVB lights and one of them has stunted growth. Ask a lot of questions:

Approximate age of dragon?
What lights are you using? How old are they?
What are you feeding? How often?
Are you dusting with calcium and multi-vitamin? How often?
Has the beardie been to the vet? Checked parasites?
How often has it been handled? Any handling problems?
Check the enclosure for a recent poop? How does it look?
Look at the location and judge the temperature if a thermometer is not present

Hope that helps,
-Jim

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
