does this temp gun look accurate?

i need something to check what my enclosure is accurately and the digital one i have is pretty innacurate.

if not can someone reccomend something thats accurate but around 20 dollars shipped?

I have one and it works fine. You can also get the exact same unit from harbor freight (without the zoomed logo... Zoomed doesn't make it, they just slap the logo on it) for, if I remember correctly, less than $10.

how far do you hold it from the object to make it accurate?

The closer it is to the object the smaller the testing radius. I like to get pretty close, like an inch or so. I also have a probe thermometer in the tank, the gun gives a more accurate reading of the basking spot.

i have a probe and it is wayyy inacurate thats why im replacing it.

I also have it, its pretty accurate. I compared it with my probe thermometer and it was only a degree or two off each time I tried it. I bought that brand online for $12 off Ebay.
