Does lights out = Bed time?

This is a question that's been bothering me for a while. I keep Buddy on a 12 hours on 12 hours off schedule, I turn his lights on at 9am and turn them off at 9pm. When I turn Buddy's lights out, does that mean he has to go to sleep, or can I keep other lights on while his stay off?

well mine go to sleep as soon as lights are out, and normally i canrt have any other lights on due to the simple fact she wakes up.

I have enclosure in nearly every room of my house it would be impossible to not have any other lights on after theirs go out. So I wrap mine in blankies or cover them so that the light from the TV or kitchen stove hood doesn't bother them.

Elliott has no problem sleeping if his lights go out and the others in the living room are on. Typically he is asleep within 10 minutes of his lights turning off.

I made curtains for the dragon vivs in the living room because they have a hard time sleeping when other lights are on. They wake up and give me the stink eye if there's a lamp on and their vivs aren't covered.

In my days of experience (6 days and counting :lol: ), when I shut the lights off (haven't set up timers yet) I take Dewey out and wrap him up in his blankie. I'll hold him for about 15 minutes or so and he's out for the night. I don't think he even wakes up when I move to put him back in his cage. I LOVE tucking him in and he stays all warpped up until morning.

When he's sleeping I use dim lighting in my room, but I do have my tv still on. He doesn't seem to be bothered at all by it and I've yet to see him awake. Covering the cage might be a good idea though if the lights do become an issue.

cronos goes to bed imidiately as the lights are off ,and if i turn an hour late ( i have 12 day light -12 night time) he is already in his little cave sleeping

i usually try and keep my lights off when he is sleeping be cause he would wake up

Ok, that's usually what I do normally, I turn all other lights out but I normally keep the TV or computer on. It seems like they don't bother him too much since my extra large body blocks most of the light. xD

Every night Hugo goes and settles down in a comfy spot about 30 mins before his timer turns the lights out. He lies there and dozes slightly, occasionally watching me but as soon as the lights switch off he's out cold and sleeps solidly through till morning even with the lounge lights on.

They should be able to sleep even when you dim your lights a little.
