does it have to be exactly 6 months?

if i bought a uvb bulb around christmas (reptisun 10.0) would it be ok to get one next month? as long as it was before the 7 month mark? i can give him some natural sun at the cabin on vacation and at home if neccassary.

should be ok but a bulb? you not use a uvb strip? use arcadia by far the best on the market

i dont thin dr foster and smith has arcadia and i have a 10 dollar off code there so thats where i am buying it from. its the long bulb thing.

so its the long strip bulb thats good, well in 6 months time upgrade to the arcadia 12% uvb and starter unit aswell it doesnt cost much more and the quality is the best out there

^ there's only one vendor in the u.s selling Arcadia bulbs are they are a bit pricey. Arcadia is on par with reptisun, so if the reptisun better fits your budget, don't sweat it... Most people still recommend the reptisun over arcadias. An extra couple weeks is ok if you can fit in natural sunlight. Just have a new one handy no later than the 7 month date.

arcadia on par with reptisun are you kidding me??? reptisun run out 6 months TOPS and thats if ur really lucky and whats reptisuns UVB output? arcadia is 12% and arcadia last for 12 months! ask anyone out there what they would choose for UVB output and quality? reptisun or arcadia, i can guarantee you anyone with experience will say arcadia hands down i have used arcadia uvb tubes and arcadia halogen basking bulds for all my beardies over the years. ARCADIA ALL THE WAY!!! when it comes to your beardie money should never be an issue especially when its under a year old and needs maximum UVB, even though arcadia 12% UVB strip bulbs last 12 months i change them every 6 for maximum fresh output = very very healthy well looked after bearded dragons

Personally I like power sun although I am looking at the mega ray. A few weeks will not make a huge difference especially if the can get some natural sunlight.

I have experience and I obviously just recommended the reptisun... so yeah (let alone the thousands of other people on this board...) I'm not saying they're bad, just not better. What's on the box doesn't matter (the reptisun box tells you to keep it for a year as well) you need to switch either of them out every 6 months. Up until a few months ago, we had no access to arcadia bulbs in the US. All the users here have had great success with the reptisun. You're telling me we don't have healthy, well looked-after bearded dragons? Have you taken a look through any of the picture threads? All the beautiful, healthy dragons you see on here are raised on one bulb, the reptisun.

Never thought I'd see such a ridiculous fanboy screaming about light bulbs, but to each his own, I guess.
