Does Arcadia uvb's help with pooping?

Sorry, not sure if this should be in health or enclosures…

Just read above that the Arcadia lights are better for beardies. Wondering if anyone's had experience with them and seen it help with digestion. My dragon has slowed down and only poops once a week, if that. We've tried EVERYTHING and folks here have been helpful with suggestions. But nothing really works. I'm wondering if a more powerful UVB does the trick. (We have a reptisun 10.0 right now.) Anyone with Arcadia experience have a thought on this? Thanks!

ive not used arcadia but the research I did when upgrading my lights showed the two brands are pretty similar for tube formats. The T5 bulbs are better and would be a good upgrade if you use the normal T8 now. They have differnt distance requirements but it much stronger than a T8.

Also, Here is a recent thread for arcadia MVB - different style of light with better UVA output than a tube. MVB are pretty different than tubes so you'd need to adjust your cage to use it. viewtopic.php?f=34&t=211331

No problem. As a note - the arcadia MVB requre special adapters for us power supplies.

Glad you brought that up. I just asked the salesman at Arcadia, and he said no to the adaptor… that that only applied to the mercury vapor bulbs. Honestly, I am so confused about lighting. RIght now, I have two heat bulbs (a 100 and a 50 -- Laura does better with a secondary source) and the reptisun.

This is what he recommended to me is this was the 12% Arcadia bulb and a 6.5k daylight bulb.

Is that a combo of UVB and heat? Maybe that's why I'm confused.

The one in that convo is a Mercury Vapor (heat + UVA + UVB)

What bulb format do you use now, there are two types of tube. T8 have a 1" dianeter, T5 have a 5/8" diameter.

Like I said it doesn't look like the arcadia bulbs are significantly stronger for the same type (T5 or T8) so just changing brands might not give any results, but it could - I've never used the arcadias.

The one I mentioned first (T5 tube) sounds like what is being recommended to you. I use the Reptisun 10.0 T5 uvb and a zoomed 6500k bulb and I'm really happy with it. Your should be good with either brand.

Though maybe it would be good. I have such problems with temperature maintenance. Is it easier with the mercury vapor?

I have a T8 Reptisun. So T5's provide stronger UVB, yes?

Trying to keep Laura healthy is so stressful. It shouldn't be this hard. Sigh. I even had our priest bless her Sunday! (She said, "and may The Lord bless this horned toad." Lol)

Did you talk to Todd at light your reptiles? I'm assuming he recommended the T5 double fixture he sells. It is not an MVB and doesn't need an adapter. That would be an excellent choice. The uvb is more than double the output of a T8. http://lightyourreptiles.com/24hot5dobufi2.html

If you email/call Todd he should be able to walk you through picking out the right arcadia for your own situation, and how to set it up.

The thread that I linked at the beginning is an MVB - I think I may have added to the confusion, sorry about that. personally I don't use them, but understand that they can't be dimmed and must be set at a certain distance... So it might be a different challenge to keep the heat right.

Lighting is the most confusing part, but don't worry - you'll get it sorted out. That's a really sweet blessing too, lol
