Does age matter when breeding?

So me and my friend have decided we want to do a small breeding project soon. My boy is at 10 months and my friend is thinking of buying a baby female. We would obviously wait until she is old enough for breeding but then my boy will be quite a bit older. Does that matter?

Hello . I also was intested in breeding mine with a friends. And I did some research. The females should be about 2-3 years old or they could die from the egg process. It says males should also be that age. But I haven't figured out why yet.

What I ment was, do they have to be the same age? Lets say I wanted to breed a 2 year old and a 4 year old.
