Do your Bearded Dragons freak out when they see birds?

My baby Bearded Dragon was looking out at my window like he was horrified and then he lowered his head then his body was staying completely still to the ground I was wondering why he was doing that so I looked out my window to be greeted by 3 crows eyeing him through my window! Are Crows that smart how did they know that my Bearded Dragon was there? Then after I scared the crows and they flew off he started running around the tank like crazy but eventually calmed down.. but now he seems even more skittish of movement than he was before after just seeing the crows?

Well, birds are a natural predator of bearded dragons in the wild, it's hard wired into them (Along with im sure most other lizards) to try to escape when a bird is present.

You should have told him no birds will get him as long as his human slave is around! :mrgreen:

YES, birds terrify Stella. With good reason, I suppose.

But she'll freak if she sees an airplane, too.

When I take her outside, she's always got an eye to the sky.

My Nim doesn't mind our pet birds. Even when they flutter about. I have taken him outside but don't remember him freaking out about birds flying overhead. And birds have awesome eyesight so the crows probably saw the beardie in the window. And the beardie probably saw them too because beardies have awesome eyesight.

When my bearded dragon was a small he used to be scared of my little parakeets but as he got bigger they looked more like a meal to him and he tries to eat them though his tank lol

I think it should be common sense that birds are predators (they can just swoop in & pick them up).. so of course.
