do you need a Screen top?

There is nothing for him to climb up and escape, nowhere to jump to get burn by his heat lamp, its high enough where nothing can climb into it. I just really see no reason to have a screen top besides to be a nuisnece, so would it be okay to not have one?

I don't think it's required. I honestly think it's more for keeping stuff out (harmful insects, other pets) than it is for keeping your beardie in.

well I don't think we have tropical spiders in Minnesota and none of my pet can 1: get him & 2:want to get him :mrgreen: my dogs terrified of him(like run away whining terrified) and my cat and him are buds. heck oliver(cat) will snuggle with him in his bed

well as long as you say you have no other animals that can go near that tank and he can't climb out, i think hes fine. + no lid means more ventilation.

and he needs all the ventilation he can get, in summer here my room get SO humid, i have to do everything i can to keep it down :shock:

:mrgreen: yeah I'm on the top floor and i usually don't have my window open(A/C) so i have no worry about Fireflies or lighting bugs
