Do MVBs Cause Eye Squinting?

I have the ZooMed "Powersun" mercury vapor bulbs for all three of my dragons. The smallest, Picante, I had on a Reptisun coil bulb for less than a week until I got her a Powersun, too. I've noticed Picante doing a both-eye squint after I came in the room, which I assume was because of the coil bulb. However, my two male dragons will squint only one eye and look around with the other. All dragons can get within 7-5 inches of the bulbs. Are the MVBs irritating their eyes, or do they need to be farther away from the bulb?

I think that all the mvb require a greater distance than the tubes or coils. they emit a much more concentrated amount of uv. I would look up the brand and wattage online to find the proper distance, and make sure it's the distance to the dragon, not the basking spot.

If thats not it, there have been some problems with mvb during the last year. it's possible you have a bad bulb.

coils and some othe mbvs can cause eye problems. However, squinting one eye and looking around with the other is how a dragon focuses. Beardies can't focus like humans and so they will shut one eye to get a better focus. Mine does it when she wants to look at the TV so it could be that, rather than an eye problem
