do i wake him or not?

ok, so most of you know i'm a first time beardie mommy and i'm probably more paranoid that i should be but anyways Phoenix for the past 2 weeks has done nothing but sleep, but not all the time... he will sleep for like 2 days straight then the 3rd day he wil wake and want to play and eat a good meal and then we repeat, when he does this should i wake him daily to eat or should i leave him alone? When i get home he will lift his head up and look at me and when i put something in his house he will eat until its gone but idk... this entire weekend he hasnt wanted anything to do with me.. i want my friend back! Any ideas on this would really be helpful....

he will be 7 mths on the 15th of this month... he still eats VERY WELL, his temps are fine, but i have noticed him sleeping a good bit... i'm talking all day and all night... he will every few days get up for food but thats it, the rest of the time he is hiding under his rock

well i am wondering the same thing but do beardies that are brumating sleep for a few days and get back up? Like you i'm new to this too... i thought they stayed asleep but hes not... like i say he only sleep for like 2 days and then hes up and happy and loving and then bam... he's bakc to sleeping...

np..i know how it feels...ive posted tons on here because i dont know what im doing or the behaviour of these guys..always hear about stress being bad for them...but i think im the one getting more stressed than he is lol

well the folks on here have helped me out a ton!!! I was nothing but confused when Phoenix came into my life, there is so much misleading information on the web, in pet stores that i was confused,lol, but these guys have really helped me so just keep posting and they will help you, I've only have my baby about 7mths now and i'm still learning a lot myself but i'll throw what little info i know out there for you too... good luck with your baby

At 7 months he could be brumating. How big is he? All beardies brumate differently. Mine dozed during the day and didn't eat, but she never went into a deep sleep. Have you read the article on brumation? If not, I highly recommend it!

He is an estimated 15 inches give or take one or two here or there... i have read the article on brumation and in someways it does sound like it, but for example he woke up yesterday afternoon, went to bed, work up this morning and is up now, but by tomorow or the next day he will be bakc to sleeping for like 2 or 3 days again...could this be his way of brumating

It definitely could. Like I said, they all brumate differently.

oh okay, well it makes sense to me... every animal is differnt he was awake and starving this morning lol, so i'll just keep watching him. thanks for your help!!!

We are in Australia AND in the middle of summer here, but my little guy is doing something very similar. He will be one on the 14th Feb.

Was waking him and moving him into the warm side of his tank then getting him out to feed only to find he wouldn't eat on some days..........but on others he would pick......not a hugh feast though.

Yesterday and today he is in sleep mode (doze really). As you said some days he is up and about, enjoying his bath and such and others he will sleep all day and night.

He is looking healthy enough, and still pooping.
