Do beardies ever learn about reflections?

A few weeks ago, I moved my beardie from a mesh flexarium into a proper wood vivarium which has a completely glass front. The trouble is, he's now going crackers every afternoon when the sun's in the wrong place because it's suddenly brighter in his viv than it is outside and he can see his own reflection. Cue plenty of head bobbing, a really black throat and a lot of glass dancing as the "other lizard" refuses point blank to back down! :roll: Is there any chance that he'll eventually remember that the other lizard can't hurt him?

I think over time they would get used to it to some point. But for a hormonal male, who knows lol.

My beardie borris LOVES mirrors - He loves to attack himself, flash his beard, and scratch the mirror. I keep a mirror in his cage, and it entertains him. He doesn't attack it all the time, once in a while he'll get on a kick. I asked my vet if it was okay because some other members on the forum have been concerned about the stress level, but he said its fine - anyway to get your dragon active is okay - and Borris is active! So i dunno if they ever get used to their reflection, but i think they like looking at themselves! 8)

Well at least your beardie bugs out at his own reflection. My lizard seems to think the background that I put in the back of his tank is real so he'll climb up to his branch and jump at it. Then when he's on the ground he tries to scratch the picture through the glass. Thank goodness it's not acrylic cause I could see myself having to get a new one pretty soon. lol

I swear Grendel recognizes herself in mirrors. Or she recognizes me and thinks that if my twin is holding another dragon, then it must be ok. She looks at the dragon in the mirror, at me in the mirror, and has no reaction whatsoever. I think she's the mellowest beardie ever. Or maybe it's just a girl thing. :wink:

I'm not in the mood for Tiki to knock herself out cold playing with them so I'm decorating her house in palm trees. There's a tissue box out now covered in WONDERFUL palm trees (I'm obsessed with palm trees) so I buy two at a time. Between my love for palm trees and summer allergies, we'll cover the outside of her house in no time flat!

Rosie's previous owner's said she loved to stare at her self in the mirror. She was funny standing up on the mirror and looking very closely at the reflection.

I love the idea of the palm trees! She's living in a resort! 8)
