tonight when I was trying to make some changes in Pogi's tank, I held him for a while. Then asked my son to hold him while I tried to see about hanging his fluorescent light fixture inside his tank. When I had Pogi he was calm, but after awhile I heard my son asking me to come get him because he was getting frisky. My son is very gently with animals but gets a little panicky if they appear to be too active. So instead of getting him I asked my husband to help out and hold Pogi until I finished what I was doing. Within a few minutes later my husband says come get Pogi because he is hyper. Apparently Pogi wanted to go exploring and was leaping out of their hands onto the couch. So I went over and scooped him up and just held him close like I always do and stroked his head and back. Pogi began to settle into my hand and was seemingly content. My husband and son just stared at me and said that they think Pogi likes me best.
So, do bearded dragons bond with certain people? I do handle him the most, and feed him, and sit by his tank and talk to him while I eat my breakfast. If it is true I think that is sweet but I also don't want to discourage my family from trying to bond with him as well. I already have 9 other pets who are 'bonded' with me...I was hoping Pogi would be more like a 'family' pet and just a 'mama's boy'
