DIY decor help

I'm sure I could answer my own questions if i took a bit more time to look but I'm feeling lazy.
Is it best to purchase a premade hide or wood structure or is it safe to make your own with supplies from a hardware store? What is the best to use, wood or stone?
Our dragon loves to hide under fabric, what is safest for it? Can we leave a small "blankie" in the viv?
Gizmo is moving into His 50 gallon VIV and needs some toys. He loves his hammock.

Gizmo is almost three months old and about 10 inches long.

DIY is fine if you avoid certain things. Fume-y things, rotten/bug infested things... Basically anything you wouldn't want to have in your own bedroom.

I make my own everything, it's cheeper and more aesthetic in my opinion. It's also easier to change things around as they grow. I recently had to zip tie two of my stick together as pepper has gotten too big. The little ones like to climb, and you could easily fit a nice little branch in, and just replace it when he out grows it.

Pine and cedar are bad for reptiles, dry hardwoods are usually fine.

Rock, branches and other outside decor can be cleaned/sterilized with a 10% bleach solution! boiling or baking in the oven. I like stone because it hold heat well and helps file the nails. A nice big rock can help even out the nighttime temperature drop. I also use branches wrapped in twine because I don't have access to lots of free rocks.

My hide/basking rock stand is a half cinder block on it's side.

Blankies are fine and quite popular. I use fleece, but even a dish rag would be ok as long as it don't catch the toenails.

I make hammocks out of mesh laundry bags and 3M removable hooks, I can change the size and placement on a whim.

There are good how too out there for custom rocks made from styrofoam and grout if you really want to get crafty!
