i got Rocky, 10 mo old male 2 weeks ago yesterday. he had sand in his tank, so i covered it with a good layer of paper towels till i can get it out of there...hard to get him out for any length of time so i can pull maintenance so to speak, till i get him tamed better. anywho, past 2 days he is digging and digging....this morning i got up, turned lights on and he woke up and started digging like crazy. also seems to have more of an appetite? what's this digging all of a sudden, or is it because he is more used to surroundings now? HELP! changes in his behavior make me nervous lol

I'm not an expert by any means, and I'm sure someone with more experience will reply also. In my experience I don't think it's anything bad. My male started doing that when we made changes to his cage a while ago. He's settled and pretty much stopped, occasionally he'll start digging around for a little while and usually fall asleep. Some people that have beardies who like to dig often will put dig boxes in their enclosures so they can dig in the dirt. I wouldn't panic just sounds like you have a beardie who enjoys digging.

There's really no rhyme or reason to why some dig and some don't, especially if they're males.
I used to have a male who'd dig until he tired himself, which sometimes would be hours, just because he can.

when i take my male outside he likes to dig in the dirt.

you try adding a dig box for him. (shoebox with shredded paper towels, old cloths, etc)

well i went to the pet store to get crickets after work, and asked the woman there. she said that males' beards get black, whereas a female's doesn't get that dark. and also that males have a broader head than females. so am assuming that the guy i got him from was right, that it's a male.....oh lord, not ready to be a gramma if its a raquel instead of rocky lol.

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
