Digging Beardie

Hey guys.

I own a beardie who is about 1yr in age at the end of september. I am sure he is a He, but recently he has been digging quite often in different patches and areas of the cage. This makes me feel it could be a she. I only have one beardie so obv there cnt be any sign of eggs etc. but if she is a shy and she is digging often is this just her way of sayingits mating season?

Apart from that his health is perfect and no worries

Thanks!

If you're unsure, post pictures like what you can see in that article and we'll help you. Has your dragon been with or seen any other dragons?

The dragon has not been in contact with any other dragons. I purchased him from a pet store when he was 8 weeks or so old, unsure if teh pet store owner had more then one in the cage at the time. But i'm sure the beardies will not mate that young will they? I will have to double check teh sexing asap,. but i'll let you guys knows.

Thanks

Actually, both my beardies dug a few times... They are still on sand as I wait for the shipment of the carpet. It is quite funny to see them digging like there's no tomorrow! I might even leave them a "sandbox" when I remove the sand to put the carpet.
One likes to dig a little hole to sleep in. I never thought about it being a sign of them being females (they're still babies), but I am interested by other replies to your thread!

Females dont actually have to be in contact with any males, its a hormonal thing. My 2 yr old girl has never seen another, but still lays eggs. I would double check the sex, and see if you can feel for eggs (some times you can feen marbels low in their abdomen)

If not he/she may just want to dig, sometimes they will want to make a burrow for winter to brumminate it. If this is the case you will need a vet check up/fecal test to rule out any parasites as brumminating while infected can be disaterous!

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
