Hello Jane,

How is Loiosh doing today?
Honestly, I am not sure if they are born with intestinal damage, but don't think so. Basically when they have such a heavy load of coccidia at a young age is when it begins to destroy the microvilli & damage the GI tract if they are not gotten under control.
You are doing absolutely everything possible for him. I know that he is a happy boy & definitely appreciates all of your efforts.

Hey Tracie,

He definitely had coccidia when he came to me. Pinworms as well. Those seem standard issue for baby beardies. I had a vet visit for him right away, I always do with new animals. We caught it immediately, but he did have a couple months with it. He's fighting his feeds REALLY hard, which is good because he has the strength. When I pinch his skin it relaxes now, not all the way but enough. I'm taking that to mean that his dehydration is improving. He's down to 545 grams today, but that was after he pooped.... soooooooo... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

He seems to go up and down in terms of how his fat deposits look. Sometimes they look better, sometimes they look like they haven't improved at all. Of course, that's REALLY subjective. I'd like to take daily molds of them so I can have concrete measurements, heh.

Hello Jane,

It sounds like he has improved some, especially with his hydration issues though. At least his skin stretches back more quickly now.
Yes, it is relatively normal for them to have very low levels in their system as the normal gut & GI flora.
Their systems can go up & down just like ours, with regards to water weight & balances. I am happy to hear that there has been some progress for him.
