Dig box

I have a male and female dragon, I just added an empty box to the tank for there cave and now the male keeps digging, I have a spare tank and more boxes, I want to know what is the best stuff to put in a dig box for them? Maybe something I can go to the store and buy

Hi. It'd be best to separate. It sounds like he is stressed from being with the female and trying to get away from her. I know in your other thread you said you don't have room , but it sounds like there are and will be issues if you don't split them. Beardies are not social with their own kind. They are very territorial and they will fight and hurt each other or worse. How big is the enclosure? Maybe you can put a divider in there, but they really need their own space.

It's about 46 gallons, trying to trade both tanks for a 55 or bigger

That still is not big enough for 2 beardies. They each need a 40 gallon breeder minium. A 4x2 is really what one should be in. Maybe you can get 2 of the 4x2 and stack them. You can make your own there is a diy on here with all kinds of ideas on how to make enclosures for cheaper the you can buy them. I have 3 beardies and I bought all of my tanks on Craigslist for 50.00 or less.

I don't have the extra money for all the lamps and bulbs I would need, and glass is exspensive, I have a plan on making a bigger tank but it's taking time

I know it can be expensive but it's not good for them to be together. If they injure each other bad enough the vet bills will be more expensive. You could look for one more 40 gal tank on craigslist - I got mine for 40$. the extra fixtures would probably add another 40$, but really that's all you need to buy. Substrate could be paper towels and you could sanitize a rock from outside for a basking object. In these situations you really need to do what's best for your dragons not what is easiest for you.

That's tough really. Adding more space won't solve the issues of cohabiting a male and female beardie. I know costs can add up and it's hard but you can't make the lizards act unnaturally or to their detriment to suit your wallet.

Are you making them from wood? that shouldn't cost a fortune.

Yes, but I don't want to use screen sides, doesn't hold heat, I may sell them
