Diarrhea =[

My bearded dragon has had abnormal poo and even diarrhea recently. I have a feeling that it is some sort of parasite or maybe even coccidia. Is this most likely it? I am going to make a appointment to bring him in to the vet. Do i need to bring a completely fresh stool sample or do i even need to bring a stool sample at all? Thanks.

yes you need to bring in a sample, as soon as he poops scoop it up and bring it in, if its at night put it n small container or zip lock bag and pop it in fridge first thing next morning bring it in. if your beardie is having diarrhea you should soak him/her in the tub with some pedialite jsust to make sure it doesnt get dehydrated.

Hi elklord! good luck w/ the vet. In my opinion due to a recent experience and from what i read on here, if the vet offers an antibiodic called albon ask him/her for something else. I understand there are meds out there not as harsh and for much shorter period of time. also get a soy based yogurt and some acidopholiz for him. It will help recover and soothe its stomach too. also, if it is indeed parasites, make sure to clean its poop as soon as you can and sterolize his cage as often as possible as well. try to hydrate him as much as poss as well.

oh..is the albon too harsh cuz it kills good bacteria as well? And you say to get the yogurt and the other formula to replace the good bacteria?the doctor did give me albon but my dragons stool seems to actually be getting better. Do i still offer the acidophiz?

many dragons are on albon your dragon will be find just keep and eye on him. give the albon in the morning and around 3ish give him some soy yogurt it will help his belly, sometimes they experience a lack of appitite from the albon the yogurt helps with this. if you have any more questions just ask. i just went through this with 3 of my girls at once and all mine are compelety fine now.
