Diarrhea after laying eggs?

Hi all - My 2 year old laid her second clutch of eggs (some thirty odd) two days ago - and has been slowly regaining her appetite (although she still won't touch the greens)... but today she done her first bowel movement since laying and it was horrible Diarrhea it stank so bad, poor babba. Is this related to the clutch of eggs? (Just to give an image - sorry if its gross - it was all brown and watery but clumpy and no sign of the white stuff - even though I have been giving her water to drink)

Also I know this is weird but my mum and I had a horrible gastric flu the past two weeks - could that be related?
She hungrily ate some adult dubias today and yesterday I fed her some Repashy (beardie buffet). So she is eating bugs and protein.

Her temps are around 35°C basking and I'm using a UVB T8 tube that was replaced last december.

I'm still going to take her to the vet but I threw away the poo because it stank to much so I don't have a sample to take with. Hope that wont be a problem.

Thanks all!

Hi there, sorry to hear about all the gastric disturbances going on at your household. Such things can be very distressing for sure ! Your dragon would not be affected at all by the human virus so it's most likely just her body reacting to the changes of egg laying. Hopefully it will resolve soon. If not, a vet check is a good thing.

Thanks! We are much doing much better now.
Also thanks for clarifying that our virus wouldn't affect her - it's always good to double check.

So do you think I should wait for another bowel movement before proceeding to the vet?

Hello,

Poor girl, egg laying is stressful for them. Is she acting pretty normal, eating, basking, etc?
I would maybe give her a bit more time, unless she is losing weight & becoming lethargic but
if it continues I would definitely get a fecal done. Loose stools for too long will cause her to
become dehydrated. Has there been any blood or not?
You could consider giving her some probiotics for her to help settle her tummy.
Let us know how she is doing.

Hi Tracie,

She is basking - seems to be pretty active in the sense that she's got her head raised and is not resting it on her arms so to speak - looking around my room and looks at me when I call her. I tried offering her some water and she refused to drink it - I'll try again soon. I noticed my probiotic powder was expired so I need to get some more (hopefully the store has - Thanks Covid-19)

Also she does not appear to have any stress marks - I always take that as a good sign - she's showing off her gorgeous yellow scales.

Also - no sign of blood in her poo - it was the same colour as her normal poo - minus the white stuff and it was clumpy but too soft.

Thanks for all the help- you guys are amazingly supportive <3

Hello,

How is your girl doing?
I'm glad that she is active & basking right now. Yes, that is a great sign she doesn't have
a black beard right now. Were you able to find any probiotic powder?
Has she eaten anything today? I hope that she starts doing better, soon.. Keep us posted
on her.

Hi Tracie,

Sorry I got caught up with work and meant to update.

She is eating both greens and dubias (although I am drastically running out and none of the shops are supplying thanks to the pandemic... hoping they still supply dried bugs and repashy at least)

She also done a bowel movement yesterday! It wasn't diarrhea but it wasnt as solid as it usually is - still stank and was mushy but it definitely is better than before! I'm guessing the nasty smell is coming from the Repashy food?

Other than that she's active and basking and being generally naughty :p I took her outside for a bit in the yard, caught her trying to eat a bee!

I haven't stocked up on the probiotics yet - should I still get a batch even though she appears to be better?

Thanks again :)

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
