Decoration among other things

I've noticed while looking on that the decoration for lizards of various types sucks, or is very limited in the good stuff that they do have, or is just really expensive. Me being very spoiled when i was growing up feel the insatiable need to do the same for my little Leeroy. Which brings me to my question, do you guys go overboard with decoration, or do you just keep it simple with maybe 2-4 things in there (including food/water dish).

Some of you may notice that i mentioned the water dish, yes i have one, yes i also know they rarely drink it but i just have it for him to sit in if he chooses to do so, and i've seen him do it on more than 1 occasion so far.

Also, do you guys go and buy things meant for aquariums for him/her to climb on? I've been thinking about getting a "sunken ship" from somewhere and putting it under his basking spot or cool side to replace either the stackable rocks or his hidey hole home he's yet to use.

LASTLY, with the dusting of calcium and vitamins, some excess powder of the 2 is always left in his food bowl. Do you guys clean it out, or do you leave it for the next batch of crickets to frollic in in the short time they're alive before they're eatin? (i do not dust my crickets every day as the food i give them is supposed to have a high calcium content)

I kept my tank decorations to a minimum because you don't want the floor space in the tank to be clogged up with "stuff," your dragon needs some free space to run around. For instance, in my tank I had some wood branches/small logs and a cave/hide for the winter when she would go into brumation. You can try adding other things however you want to make sure that they are stable and don't have any sharp edges. Hammocks are popular with some keepers/dragons. You also want to be cautious of constantly changing things out in your dragon's tank since this can stress out your dragon depending on their personality.

As far as the excess powder, I usually cleaned out my bowl in between feedings. Your dragon should get what he needs from what stuck to the crickets :)

Hope this helps!

I know that from reading and when i first saw him at the petsmart he was the most active one there. Against my better intentions, more so for space reasons than what came with it, i bought a 29 gallon starter kit that came with pretty much everything i needed except for like 4 things, but the food bowl was absolutely massive, about the size of north america on a globe. So i had that switched out and he enjoys climbing in/on/running around it so. I just see some of the tanks/diy tanks people have/made and a lot of them are pimped out and stuff, and that's what i want for him cause i was spoiled rotten as a child lol.

So far he's been alright with the minute changes that i've made to his tank, and tonight, when i turned on my bedroom light about an hour after i turned all the lights out, he FINALLY went near his hideyhole that i bought him. Before tonight he never even touched the thing or walked past his water dish , only took him a week

Alright, i don't know if im gonna just leave it until i clean out his tank on sunday or what, but we'll see. It was funny, the first day i brought him home and fed him, i dusted the crickets with the calcium and some landed on the carpeting in the tank, after i stopped giving him crickets (was wary about letting him eat until he stopped for the first day, i just let him eat until he loses interest now) he went batshit crazy on the carpet where the calcium fell and started attacking it like it was a cricket for a good 2 minutes  so sad i didn't get a video.

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
