Darkening randomly

Randomly my beardie darkens up and I dont know why the temperature in the cage is 80 on the cool side and 95 on the warm side, I switched from one of the compact to a florescent light, and I've been feeding him regularly so I'm out of Ideas of what might be the issue

Is it his whole body or just his beard? The beard darkening can indicate a foul mood but full body darkening/lightening usually just happens as they are absorbing or reflecting light & heat. That changes throughout the day depending on what they need at a given time and is normal.
