dark, black bearding me !

Hi , Clayton seems better after his one week on meds BUT now i cant even pick him up without him black bearding me and gapping...im really upset about this. He is also dark these past few days both on top and underneath...temps are ok so im not sure why... Ty for any suggestions in advance

Pico is going thru the same thing. He has had a black beard for two weeks now. He doesn't puff up but his beard is black and he is so dark Even outside in the 100 degree weather he is dark. I will pray for your little guy as I am praying for mine non-stop. Wishing you all the best!

thank you... its hard and sad to go through... and costly too !! he goes back monday to vet... im afraid he is going to be a non social beardie who just sits in his viv the rest of his days :O(

Clayton is about 4-6 months old...petco didnt know his age... When i first got clayton he loved me to hold him and we even went to walmart and car rides together. Then he started to get a bit curious and I could only hold him for a bit before he got wiggly on me. Clayton then became very sick ( near death) For the past 7 days he has been on many meds and has improved much but now whenever he even sees me he gaps his mouth and black beards. My husband can hold him and he even fell asleep on his chest tonight BUT just the sight of me sets him off :'( Im so sad over this & even though he didnt like his medicine nothing bad ever happened & I wasnt mean or hard about it... I even spread his meds out through out the day as not to stress him as much. Do you think he will ever take to me again ? Trust & love me ?

Oh, how sad for you That must be crushing you....I am sure your baby will get over it when he gets better. If you are the one giving the meds, he is probably associating you with the discomfort....my little Tango is around 4 months old and he sees what my 8 year old Pico is going thru and I think he blames me....yesterday, he acted afraid of me and bit me. I ignored it and picked him up and kissed and cuddled him like normal. Right now Pico is asleep on my chest and Tango is sitting on my hand watching the screen on my laptop while I rub this back with my thumb.
I would just act like you always did with him and not let him pick up on your feelings of being upset. Build back his trust by being steady and secure with your love, best of luck!!!
