Dark Beard

Hey!

I recently got a baby bearded dragon a couple weeks ago and she’s doing fabulous! I have all the correct temperatures and a nice big terrarium for her. Her name is clementine and I treat her like my baby! :lol: I took her out for a bath today in luke warm water and I noticed that her bearded had weird dark lines all over it. I cant tell if it is just the design of her scales but I am concerned.

The lines are a natural pattern that is common with young dragons. The darkening can indicate mood but is most often caused when they are trying to warm up and absorb as much light as possible.

She is so pretty!!! When their beards turn dark it normally means they’re upset/scared. When I give mine baths I normally make the water warm but not hot. Just a nice warm temperature. They love it! I don’t think that’s necessarily the reason her beard was dark (if it was even darker than normal at all) just a fun suggestion to make bathtime easier!
