Hello!

I noticed that many give their BD's dandelions.

From where do you get them? (Yes, I actually looked in the produce section of the grocery ... )

If you grow them yourself, can they be grown indoors all year-long?

Is it just the leaves and stems that can be eaten?

Thanks in advance! :blob8:

I get dandelion greens at the co-op in town (they have a lot of really good local produce). I chop them into small pieces and add them to salad. Dundee doesn't eat greens yet (gets a fresh salad every day anyway) but the superworms and roaches love the stuff =).

We have nice ones at our local produce stores, but I just can't get over paying for them. I take them from my organic, weedy back yard. I also have a few in a flower bed that I let grow quite large. I had tried transplanting some, and planting seeds in my vegetable garden, but strangely they didn't do well. But boy, they sure do great in the yard and where ever else I don't want them. :(

You can try them indoors, but I don't think they will do well with that tap root. I had fairly good luck with collards inside if you want to give those a try.

I've fed the dandelion blossoms, but they usually didn't go over too well. However, the dubia colony appreciates them.

May need to look into it next spring!

I treat my yard for insects (fire ants are awful here) so I don't want to take any from outside. Plus, there's a truck that comes around and sprays for mosquitoes in the evenings. Not safe.

I mostly buy organic dandelions at the grocery store, only one of the few around me bring them in regularly. Otherwise I pick them from the backyard where no chemicals were used. Luigi's usually good at eating the 1" pieces in her salad but seems to really like when I give her the entire leaf. Sometimes she likes to rip off pieces herself while I hold it or she'll just devour the entire huge leaf herself. She seems to enjoy the stem especially, I'm guessing it's the crunchiness/juiciness she likes?

Oh man, my Zoi LOVES dandilion blossoms. She snatches them from my hand. She could live without the greens though (or any greens, really)

I usually pick them from around my neighborhood, dandilions are super susceptible to weed killer, so if a plant looks healthy, I figure it's OK.

My dragon LOVES dandelions. I normally pick them as they grow outside my house. My lizard normally eats the leaves and especially loves the flowers. Whenever she sees them she gets really excited and snatches them from my hand. :D

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
