cut nails too short?

hey guys, so Lennys nails are getting pretty freaking sharp and long, they havent ever been cut before. Can I cut the clear-ish part as long as avoid what I assume is the vein that I can see when there is enough light, or only the black tip?

When i do it, i hold them up to the light and you will see what looks almost like a triangular point at the very end and just cut that off.
on youtube theres a video that shows exactly what im talking about, but even when their really long, you only cut a teeny tiny bit off. Just type in how to trim or cut bearded dragons nails.
if you do happen to cut too short make sure you have flour onhand, this will help clot the blood and stop it from bleeding, but hopefully that doesnt happen!

Ive found dragons nails are exremely harder to cut then dogs, cats and animals of that nature since their so small and you can only take the slightest bit off, but just taking the pointy tip off makes the world of a difference with them scratching you.

This is why a hard substrate is good. It helps file nails some.

Very true. I have porcelain tile and have only ever had to cut one of my beardies nails one time. Slate works even better I hear...

Yea, I actually have had him on slate tile since I got him which was back last May, his nails are sharp, so I def will trim them, I know where I can cut down too, I just wasn't sure if I can get some of that "clear" part too, just because the overall length of his nails are getting long too.
