Hi, so on the palm of The Commissioner's right hand there seams to be an issue going on. He did just complete a shed last week, so i'm wondering if a scale got snagged and ripped off too earl?
He dose have some wood in his tank he climbs on.

Do you guys think I should go to the vet ASAP?

So far I've soaked him in a warm bath, applied some antiseptic, and of course cleaned out his tank.
could use some opinions. Thanks!

It looks raw rather than infected, i doubt a vet would do much other than give a topical antibacterial/antibiotic cream. Personally I'd keep an eye on it, make sure the tank was spotlessly clean, and carry on with cleaning it and putting antiseptic on it daily. If it got larger or the area got puffy, or he started acting like it was causing him extreme pain, then I'd take him to a vet, and I'd probably consider it if it didn't look like it was healing in a reasonable time...reptiles do heal pretty slowly, so I'd give it a week or two to start looking better before I panicked. I might also up the overnight temp in the viv to make sure his immune system was working hard to heal it.

You might also think of soaking that hand like twice a day for 20 min at a time in Betadine/water. Dilute the Betadine with water until it is the color of weak tea, and don't let him drink it. You might consider doing it after he goes to sleep at nite and before he normally wakes up, since he'll be less likely to resist. If you keep their eyes covered, they can sleep thru anything. I had a guy with a tail injury and we needed to soak it, but he didnt like the soaking, so I'd wait til he went to sleep, wrap him up in a soft washcloth burrito style, and hold him vertically over a pill bottle filled about 2/3 of the way with Betadine solution. It really worked well for the tail, and a lid from a jar would probably be a good way to soak a hand like that. With any luck, you could wrap him up with the arm sticking out and sit the jar lid next to him and put the hand in it. My bet would be that he'd never even wake up to see why his hand was wet!

Thank you both, you have calmed my nerves a bit, and the thought of a "beardie burrito" is just so cute hah.
I'm going to try that tomorrow.
Hopefully I can get this cleared up

After soaking it for a bit in the betadine solution, put a dab of neosporin,,the kind without pain meds in it, on the wound,,,it should heal up fine.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
