So I decided to use the crossfire viv model for my beardies new home, but I'm having trouble finding some supplies at my local Home depot. I'm still looking for the 6' track and the 16x8 vents with screens. Does anyone know a link where I can buy those online? Also, I found some plexiglass that was .220 thick instead of .236 is that close enough?

hi friend!
I never did find the track at home depot- i got my track at: http://www.customcages.com/index.cfm?do=list&categoryid=5

now for the vents, i bought a size i liked at homedepot and put my own screen behind it, of course now that i've done it i dont think the screen is a must have, unless u use crickets, the dubia cant crawl up the melamine (they sure do give it their best shot though) lol.they have all kinds of colors and sizes so choose the one that you like (thats what i did and it works fine)

thats the one i used!!! :D

also before i forget go get some i think they are called "decking screws" they work better while putting the melamine together. be sure you predrill your holes and even then expect some of it to get messed up...

Thanks! For some reason my beardie isn't as fond of worms as he is crickets but I did see vents at home depot that had the ability to slide closed. As for the screws, I should use those instead of finishing nails?

Also, since the white is extremely boring is there a certain type of paint to use to paint it or maybe some certain material to put over the white melamine?

i was using the finishing screws but they messed up the wood, so i was at home depot and the guy there told me to use decking screws instead, they worked so much better! Maybe its just me but it really did do better the wood didnt (splinter?) with those decking screws like it did with the finishing ones, plus its much more stable with the decking screws.

as for the background and all that, i suggest if you want to do a background, do it first and then put the viv together, i made the mistake of putting them together and later decided i wanted a background, needless to say its almost impossible for me to do anything with it now :| but i think her name is scarlet (i might have the wrong person in mind) her dad made her background and it looks GREAT! if i'm not mistaken is just one of those that you stick on there, but i tried a stick on background on mine and it wouldnt stick, i'm pretty sure you can paint it with anything you want, just make sure you let it dry super well, because once you expose it to heat i'm sure it will let off fumes.

Hm, I wasn't too into the wallpaper background idea so I'll probably stick with paint, just gotta find a good non toxic type I guess. Any idea of a certain brand of adhesive that is non toxic and can withstand the high viv temps?

(lots of questions kno, all help is much appreciated)

The paint didn't work because I forgot to sand and prime the melamine before I painted so I removed the paint and am gonna try it again. I should finish this viv before Christmas at this rate, lol

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
