Im not sure i have never heard of putting cat food in for Crickets. Potatoe, Apple etc is good as food and water i use water crystals in with them but all seams ok other wise.

Get plenty of cardboard egg crates / cartons to pile up inside the containers. For that many crickets, you really need much larger containers than those...unless I'm doing my conversions wrong. 20 Liter and 8 Liter? I believe that translates to about 5 gallons and 2 gallons. For 1500 and 500 crickets you really should give them more space than that, especially if you plan to breed them. Otherwise, you can have all kinds of problems including cricket cannibalism. Not to mention, it will be very difficult to clean. For that many crickets, you should use at least 20-gallon ( or about 76 L container) .

If you really are unable to get larger containers, you'll need to collect LOTS and LOTS of egg crates to place inside your small containers in order to break up the space between crickets. The egg pockets in those crates help give crickets their own space and prevent them from attacking / eating each other.

For food, what the person above said is fine. Potatoes are fine. Fruits and veggies and seeds work. Cat food is alright, just not the most nutritious. Just be sure to remove the fresh food regularly so it doesn't go bad and infect the enclosure. If you use fresh fruit daily, then you don't need to provide water. If you're not using fresh food, than a wet sponge will work for the insects to drink off of. Don't fill any small containers with water because your bugs are liable to drown. Hope this helps and good luck!

Thank you for the help. The size of containers i have are 72L for the 1000 Crickets and a 38L for the 500 Crickets not 1500 in one container lol. Oh ya i just use potatoe, apple and carrots as food/water sorce for now till mt cricket food and water crystals come in. I am trying to find a place were i can find the egg cartians. i have enough in the 38L container but need more in the 72L container. So cat food is ok.? Why.? its not good for Beardies to eat.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
