Hi all
I'm a month in to bearded dragon ownership and I'm finally starting to feel a connection with Kevin. Who turned out to be a girl. Considering a name change, but maybe not!
Anyway, she absolutely loves her live cricket chasing. I can tempt her by tossing in freeze dried ones every now and then if they bounce, but she mostly looks at me like "seriously?" (don't mean to anthropomorphize but that is totally the vibe I get)
Crickets at the local reptile store are 10c each. I can also buy a cricket card, where I pay for 100-500 crickets at a time and only take the amount I want, and use it like a punch card. I know many people order them online, but I'm having crappy luck finding a good farm that doesn't have ridiculous shipping prices - and I don't know that Kev could finish them before they died?
One reptile friend recommended breeding crickets but that idea seems pretty hated in the beardie community. I know dubias are much preferred for breeding, but not only am I disgusted and afraid of roaches, I'm actually allergic somehow. I could work through that, but my roommates have absolutely vetoed roaches. So I'm saving the dubias for the future: for right now, would breeding feeder crickets be worth it??
